Biodegradable mulch film is a compromise solution between natural mulching (straw, jute or wool) and plastic mulching. In essence, it is very similar to polyethylene mulching, but using film made of biodegradable material. These can then be incorporated into the soil at the end of cultivation, or when they are no longer reusable. However, if the cost of mulching material is an issue, these biodegradable film is not exactly cheap. Perhaps their use can only be sustainable in small home gardens. On the other hand, if the economic investment is sustainable, it is always advisable to use natural biodegradable mulch film.
Gianeco srl's BioGeo recycled biodegradable plastic is an excellent material for producing biodegradable mulch film, and is cheaper than virgin biodegradable plastics.
